Washington Supreme Court’s Sweeping Call to Fix Racial Bias in Jury Selection

As the Seattle Times reports:

Justices on the Washington Supreme Court on Thursday decried what they described as persistent racial bias in jury selection and called for new protections against it, possibly including the abolition of a legal tradition that dates back more than 700 years.



I was quite happy to notice that the concurrence cites an article written by Professor Jeff Bellin and me (although the majority’s decision is more in keeping with our conclusions).  You can read the entire opinion here.
